Class Descriptions

Purple Yoga Studio offers classes for all levels of students. Our goal is to help you realize your full potential whether you’re trying yoga for the first time or you’ve been practicing for years. The classes are physically challenging, so it's important to work at your own pace and be patient. Remember, progress comes with practice. Our classes include the vinyasa form, which integrates breath with movement. This dynamic flowing style is a powerful system that utilizes asana (postures), pranayama (breath), and meditation that will leave you feeling revitalized and relaxed.

Blue Series

Set sequence of poses with a slower flow.  Tone of class is set with a slow warm up, starting with Child's Pose, Down Dog & Rag Doll designed to gradually warm the body and calm the mind.  Class continues with Sun Salutations and other classic poses and will include detailed instructions to provide a better understanding of key components of each class. Longer held standing and balancing poses to warm up. Second part of class will include seated and twisting poses. Appropriate for all skill levels. 60 minute class typically set to calming music in a warm room, 80 degrees.

Red Series

All levels are welcome to this intense and energizing workout. This class will build upon some of the basic poses from the Blue Series and include more challenging inversions and arm balancing poses. These energetic classes are great for weight loss, and will help improve strength, stamina and flexibility. Be prepared to work hard, sweat and have fun.  70 minute class typically set to music in a hot room, 99 degrees.

Hot Yoga

Hot yoga is a demanding series of postures and suitable for all ages and levels of ability. Each posture stretches and strengthens the muscles, ligaments and joints in a specific sequence, working synergistically and cumulatively. Hot Yoga is a flowing class without Sun Salutations.  80 minute class in a hot room, 99 - 105 degrees. All levels welcome.

Purple Series

Intermediate and advanced students only. This class is lead with very little instruction. Students are encouraged to use an intelligent and intuitive approach to find their own unique expression.

Candle Light Flow

You can look forward to these special classes every month.  

Candle light, mellow music, the perfect way to end a busy day.

Community Class

Classes are offered at a special rate of just $9. More bang for your buck.  

Community classes are not sold online and must be purchased at the studio.

Prenatal / Postpartum - Long Beach 

Yoga provides many tools to ease the body’s transformation during pregnancy; to improve one’s connection to the growing life within and to prepare for childbirth and life postpartum. Learn asana for comfort, strength and to assist in understanding how to look inward into your own changing anatomy and that of the growing baby. Yoga will help a mother-to-be to stay flexible and healthy throughout the pregnancy, remain present during the challenges of labor and delivery, and care for herself during the postpartum period.
